Massive Tax Relief Announced Under New Journey Scheme for NCR Vehicle Owners as Rajasthan Government Approves Scrappage Incentives
The Rajasthan Government has approved the New Journey Scheme offering major tax relief for NCR vehicle owners. The policy provides up to 100 percent tax exemption on scrapping BS-4 and older vehicles and purchasing BS-6 or electric vehicles, along with waivers on pending taxes, penalties, interest, and registration fees to promote cleaner mobility.
Under the newly sanctioned policy, owners of BS-4 and older vehicles will receive up to 100 percent tax exemption upon scrapping their old vehicles and purchasing new BS-6 or electric vehicles. The initiative is designed to encourage a large-scale transition toward environmentally sustainable mobility in the region.
The scheme further provides complete waiver of outstanding motor vehicle tax, one-time tax obligations, penalties, and accrued interest for eligible vehicles registered within the NCR region. In addition, full exemption on registration fees has also been included as part of the incentive structure, significantly reducing the financial burden on vehicle owners opting for compliant replacements.
According to the official notification issued by the authorities, the “New Journey Scheme” specifically targets the phased elimination of high-emission vehicles. It seeks to reduce air pollution levels by incentivizing the adoption of cleaner fuel technologies, including BS-6 compliant and fully electric vehicles.
The policy is expected to play a crucial role in reshaping the regional transport ecosystem by discouraging the continued use of outdated vehicle categories and strengthening compliance with modern emission standards. Authorities have emphasized that the measure is a structured administrative step toward improving air quality while ensuring economic relief for affected vehicle owners.
The implementation of the scheme marks a significant policy intervention in NCR’s ongoing environmental management strategy, combining regulatory enforcement with fiscal incentives to accelerate the shift toward sustainable transportation.
